Found an injured, orphaned or unwell wild animal in the Greenwich or Bexley area?

The best way to get in touch with us is by posting on our Facebook Group. You can also find a full list of rescue organisations serving the Greenwich & Bexley area below.

If you have found an injured, orphaned or unwell wild animal in the Greenwich, Bexley, or wider South East London area, then we also suggest doing the following:

- Get the animal contained in an animal carrier or secure box with air holes for ventilation.

- Contact one or more of the organisations listed below.

- If it is not possible to safely contain the animal yourself, then stay with the animal or try to at least keep it in view whilst you contact the organisations listed below.

- Be prepared to transport the animal if you are able to - not all wildlife rescue centres are able to collect.

- Be patient, and be persistent. Wildlife rescue centres are often overwhelmed with calls for help and may struggle to respond to everyone. If one organisation can't help - don't get angry, and don't give up! Just move onto the organisation on the list.

- If you have found an injured or orphaned grey squirrel, contact squirrel-friendly rescues only, the details of which you can find below.

- Do not attempt to feed the animal or put water in its mouth, as this can do more harm than good. Read more of our 'Dos and Don'ts' for wildlife casualties here.

The following rescue organisations are either licensed or will help to secure placements and transport to licensed rescue centres. They are not all local, unfortunately.
